Get ready for real South Seas living —
majestic verdant mountains, spectacular turquoise lagoons and endless
beaches.
Day 1
Los Angeles/Tahiti
Leave this afternoon for the legendary islands of Tahiti.
Day 2-4
Moorea
Early arrival in Tahiti. Connect with your flight to Moorea. Take off
your watch, slip on a pareo, and you're ready for real South Seas
living--Moorea's white sand beaches and crystal clear lagoon set the
perfect scene for a casual, barefoot vacation.
Day 5-8
Bora Bora
Fly on to Bora Bora, where you'll land on an air strip built on a motu
by U.S. forces in 1942. Breathtakingly beautiful, Bora Bora is scarcely
20 miles around, its turquoise lagoon dotted with deserted motu
which beckon you to while away the days enjoying the pleasures of
paradise.
Enhance your stay on Moorea with a dinner show at the Tiki
Village and on Bora Bora with dinner at Bloody
Mary's, a 4x4 Jeep Safari,
and the Shark and
Ray Snorkeling Safari.
Day 9-12
Rangiroa
Continue to the atoll of Rangiroa--a tiny speck in an endlessly blue
ocean. A string of islets surrounds a vast lagoon, creating an immense
aquatic playground. Swim, scuba, and snorkel. Live the life of a
beachcomber. Wander endless beaches. Start a shell collection. Or do
nothing more than exercise a hammock... with any luck, you'll never be
rescued.
Day 13
Rangiroa/Tahiti
Return to Tahiti where hotel accommodations are provided until time to
depart for the airport and your late evening flight back to Los Angeles,
where you arrive the next morning.

Tiki
Village Theater
Your
hotel will be happy to provide a free shuttle to The Tiki Village
Theater. Upon your arrival, you are greeted by ukulele players. A
hostess ushers you through a meandering path of soft island sand into
the open-air theater. There, you are given your welcome punch and taken
to your seats. As the show begins, you can smell your food roasting.
After the first 30 minutes you are asked to follow with your group to
the BBQ pit for the unveiling of the "under ground Tahitian
oven." Unbeknownst to you, your feast has been cooking in banana
leaves over hot burning rocks beneath the sand. Two hosts educate you in
the history of this ancient cooking process.
Soon
afterwards, you are escorted through the charming likeness of an
authentic Tahitian village where various artisans demonstrate their
skills. The village is complete with stone carvers, basket weavers,
vahines (women) braiding flower crowns and Tahitian tattoo artists! You
are then guided through the buffet line.
As you eat this authentic banquet, Tahitian models are moving to the
live music as they demonstrate how to tie a pareo. But wait, the show is
not over yet... following your dinner there is an additional hour of
music, flaming torch dances, tamure dancing, singing, drumming and the
witness of a Tahitian Wedding. This is a must see!

Bora
Bora - Bloody Mary's
As you enter this restaurant, you cannot help but be amazed
by the sand beneath your feet.
Looking up to the roof, you notice slow turning fans everywhere.
Little coconut tables and stools are in the sand. Everything wooden here
is made from coconut trees! If you take a closer look, you'll realize
that you are actually outside!
Monday through Saturday evenings, there is a display bar where the fresh
catch of the day is laid out on ice. The host/hostess explains precisely
what each fish is and how it can be prepared for you. Pay
attention here, because this is where and when you order. Not only are
there many choices
of local fish and shellfish, but there are beef, chicken and
vegetarian dishes as well. Your dish is prepared to your liking, and
whether it be it grilled, skewered or prepared with a delicate sauce,
rest assured, it will be good. Bloody Mary's serves lunch as well. And,
whatever you do, as odd as it may sound...be sure to check out the rest
rooms (you'll feel as though you are in an episode of Gilligan's
Island)! Bloody Mary's is simply fun!
They also have a merchandise counter where you can pick up a Bloody
Mary's souvenir to remember your visit to this great spot. They even
offer Cuban cigars!

4x4
Jeep Safari
Your
friendly safari guide will pick you up at your hotel. There, you will
join other sightseers in the back of a Jeep 4x4. Driving along the
coast, you will pass a "marae" (an ancient sacrificial
ceremony site), where offerings to the Gods were given. Then, you'll be
driven up the steepest mountains, into the heights of Bora Bora's lush green
After he picks the fruit, he will
demonstrate how to open and devour it (which, of course, he shares with
everyone)! Later, you will arrive at another outlook, where the U.S.
Navy Seabees strategically placed two cannons to protect the airport
during W.W.II. So bring a camera, water, sunscreen, and hold on tight!

Shark
& Ray Snorkel Safari
Covered boats will transfer you across the lagoon, past
Toopua point, to the barrier reef
where ideal conditions have encouraged maximum coral growth.
Donning a mask and snorkel, you'll enter waters with varying depths of 4
to 30 feet.
The waters will instantly amaze you with the clarity and vivid blue
colors. The diversity of the fish species and colors of the coral are
quite fantastic!
After snorkeling amid these
gorgeous coral formations, your guide will begin attracting some black
tipped lagoon sharks to the group!
This is indeed a thrilling
experience for anybody who's never seen a shark or large marine creature
underwater... but don't be scared! At three to five feet in length,
these sharks are quite harmless. Tahitians have been diving with them
for many years and never have experienced any problems.
The
fact is the sharks of Polynesia all share a scuba-friendly trait: Since
their food supplies are abundant, they've never been known to be
aggressive to any divers! That being said, they are the masters of the
lagoon and their power and grace still command respect from divers.
Next,
it's time to see the rays! A favorite stop to a shallow sand bank will
be made where you'll see the elegant, yet harmless, grey stingrays
living in their natural habitat.
More on Sting Rays:
Sting rays have a 'disc' span (wing span) of about 3 feet. They are also
more intelligent than sharks. Plankton is one of their favorite foods,
but they eat small fish and crustaceans as well. Because they are bottom
feeders, their nostrils, mouth, and gill slits are located on the
underside of their bodies. The ray uses its gills to eat by sucking
water in through them. This allows plankton to remain in its mouth while
water is pumped out. Then, the plankton are channeled into the ray's
stomach to be digested. Rays reproduce between May and October. When
they reach about 10" in length they sexually mature. Female rays
give birth to two or three pups per litter. Rays learn to evade
predators by spending much of their time on the sandy bottom, flapping
their wings to throw sand on their bodies.
If you want, you may get the chance to touch and feel one of the
graceful creatures with the assistance of your guide, as they swim in an
effortless "ballet" in and around the swimmers.
